Proportion A Principle of Design that refers to the relative size of a figure or object compared to other objects in its environment. (The proportion of one thing vs. another thing.)

Scale Refers to the relative size compared to similar objects in its environment. (The scale of one thing vs. the same thing in a different size).

Proportion and Scale Assignment 1. Create a composite showing an object out of proportion to its surroundings. You must take the photos for the composite, they can be taken at school. A minimum of 2 photos. 2. Photograph a scene that shows a range of similar objects in different scales. The photos can be taken at school.

3. Read the passages about Proportion on pages 42, 160, 226 in Focus on Photography. Summarize the passages and find a photo from the internet that could illustrate the passage. 4.
