Fractions to decimals A fraction conversion can be done two ways. Method 1: Traditional 3 8 ==8÷30.375 Method 2: Using the unitary method This is the preferred method since we will use this for many calculations across the school.

Using the unitary method Step 1: You are changing a fraction into a decimal. So Write two column headings The first thing to consider is that 1 = to a whole= 8 eighths The next thing is to write in the value you want e.g. And a question mark for what you want to find. Write in a unit of the fraction Then using division and multiplication work down the column you know the vales of, then perform the same calculations down the column you don’t.
