a sudden, severe intra abdominal pain which is less than 24 hours in duration accompanied by fever and leukocytosis

Requiring urgent and specific diagnosis & no painkillers Several cases need surgical treatment Stable CT Unstable FAST-Ultrasound& fluid replacement Full blood count

Pain Tenderness Muscular rigidity

Somatic pain (accompany somatic efferent) sharp – skin, muscle, joint, bone – pinpoint Visceral pain (accompany sympathetic efferent) squeezing – diffuse – inflammation, ischemia, distension Neuropathic pain

Causes: 1. Appendicitis 2. Kidney stone 3. Cholecystitis 4. Pancreatitis 5. Intestinal ischemia 6. Diverticulitis 7. Ectopic pregnancy 8. Ovarian torsion 9. Abdominal aortic aneurysm 10. Peptic ulcer 11. Hemoperitoneum 12. intoxication

Peritonitis: Inflammation of peritoneum Occasionally used synonymously with acute abdomen Resulted from discussed disease Rebound tenderness
