Birth & Childhood Born in Diamond Grove, Missouri in 1864 Mom: Mary, slave Mary had 2 kids: James and George Slave raiders took Mary and baby George, baby George was found on the side of the road Susan Moses Carver took care of the kids They are slave owners He stuttered When he was 12 he left the Carvers He was the 7 th kid In March 1847 in Brooklyn, NY the Smith family gathered for a celebration

Adult Family Life & Death When George was older he changed his name to George Washington He went to college in 1896 at Tuskegee Institute (Alabama)- black people- plants and farming Carver taught Science at Tuskegee Institute Henry Ford gave him money to build a lab Died January 5, 1943
