6 My experience as head of the CI delegation Many CI delegates were uncertain of what to do during the summit. My job was give them –A social frame –A purpose for the days eg. assign meetings I chaired daily meetings for all consumer participants, morning and late afternoon during the whole COP – to plan, share experiences and evaluate Daily blogs for benefit of CI members was a success Close cooperation between my own organization and the CI secretariat was crucial - before, during and after the summit 2011Rasmus Kjeldahl - The Danish COP15 experience6

7 7 What did we learn about engagement with industry and stakeholders during the COP ? 2011 Dialogue should be established in due time before the event Our positions should be ultra clear. Focus also on authorities/governments – Consumers members on national delegations is important Common goals and strategies must be developed with other organisations – do not stand alone Follow-up after the event is necessary Rasmus Kjeldahl - The Danish COP15 experience

8 8 Recommendations to the consumer movement for Rio+20 2011 CI to agree on clear objectives for Rio+ 20 very soon Have the internal structure and position papers in place well in advance Set up goals that are realistic - match the resources available Get a side event + include food and drinks ! 10 (Recommendations…) Network and make alliances before Rio+20 with other stakeholders to make stronger impact Evaluate daily during Rio+20 – set up the objectives and goals for the next day Evaluate after Rio+20 – what goals were reached, which were not – the road ahead Clear roles to all in CI delegation beforehand – we should be a team where everyone to have a mission – not tourists!!! 2011Rasmus Kjeldahl - The Danish COP15 experience10
