What? Compete against other students in your level in one of the following categories: Poetry-recite a poem from memory Prose-read a text in French Conversation-with a partner, talk about a given topic in French Théâtre de Chambre-in a group of 2-6 people, present a scene from a play from memory (with props and costumes) Reader’s Theater-in a group of 2-6 people, read a scene from a play Musical Performance-alone or in a group of 2-6 people, sing from memory a song in French (you can play an instrument or sing along to recorded music)

Why? It’s a great way to practice and improve your French Practice public speaking Compete against others Advance to the state competition and win a medal It’s an activity that will count for membership in French Honor Society

When? The Regional Competition is Saturday, March 7 th, 2015 at Nicolet High School (leave AHS at 7:15 a.m. return around 12 p.m.) Cost to participate is $8 The State Competition is Saturday, May 16 th, 2015 at Arrowhead (8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

I’m interested…now what? Decide which category you’d like to compete in If competing in Théâtre de chambre, Reader’s Theater or Musical Performance, choose friends to form a group (up to 6 people) and choose a piece to present If competing in Conversation, choose a friend to work with If competing in Poetry, visit http://www.aatfwi.org/concoursoral.html to hear the poem for your level and to print a copy of it http://www.aatfwi.org/concoursoral.html Practice after school with Mademoiselle is recommended for all categories
