11. Calendar Text book Chapter: Appendix 1 & 2 (p 569-582) Practice Packet: Any page not completed in class must be done for homework. EVERY NIGHT- STUDY!!! Be prepared for a Graded Checkup or quiz each day! NO WORK, NO CREDIT for Math. Work on vocabulary definitions due the day of the test! 22. Just think… This would have been quite dull if I drew the pieces on the board and you had to figure it out in your head…. The beauty of chemistry is that although the concepts can be abstract, they can be tested in a laboratory! The beauty of science is that it is fluid. As new information is discovered, lines of thinking change and adapt. =

23. So now that you’ve done a little thinking… The activity today required no special safety procedures. That’s not true for many of the experiments that are performed in science class. Hence the topic of your first Laboratory: Safety in the Chemistry Classroom=

24. A TYPICAL LAB PERIOD 1) Pick up the new lab paper /have pre-lab out 2) Background for the lab, the procedures and any safety precautions discussed. Take notes if you have to. 3) Get goggles and put them on, and start gathering equipment. **10-pt penalty for not wearing 4) You and your lab partner will work together to complete the lab. * record any data in the provided data table (correct precision/units)

25. 5) Clean up the lab station thoroughly Chemical wastes will be disposed of as per teacher instruction. Make sure to completely clean up the bench top and dry it off. 6)Once all groups have completed *goggles may be removed *placed back in the racks of the goggle cabinet neatly. * last person close cabinet and activate the ultraviolet light. 7)Begin the write up. *Draw graphs, solve problems, write answers. All students are to be engaged until the dismissal bell rings.

26. REGENTS REQUIREMENT FOR LABS 1200 minutes of hands-on laboratory activity with PASSING lab reports to sit for the Regents exam. LATE and INCOMPLETE LABS will be penalized 10 points up to one day late, then 30 points thereafter. In order to only lose 10 points for turning in an incomplete lab, the lab must be completed and return w/in 24 hours! If you miss lab, arrange to make it up after school within FIVE SCHOOL DAYS of your return (on a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday). Bring someone to help you.
