2 Ethnic Group Employers are required to report this data to the government. However, it is voluntary for employees to provide the information. Why does JMU collect ethnicity data? BackNext James Madison University does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, creed, national origin, age, veteran status, political affiliation, or disability.

3 Enter your JMU eID and Password, then click Sign In to log in to JMU Employee Self-Service (J-Ess). Log in to J-Ess Next Ethnic Group Back

4 Ethnic Group In the Personal Information section, select the Ethnic Groups link. Select Ethnic Group BackNext Click Ethnic Groups

5 Ethnic Group If you have prior ethnicity data on record with JMU, the information will default on the page. Please verify that it is correct and, if you wish to make changes, review the text and proceed. Review Information BackNext

6 Ethnic Group Choose Yes or No for question 1. Select the Explain link to read the description of Hispanic or Latino culture or origin. Question 1 BackNext

8 Ethnic Group Select or deselect one or more races by clicking in the box next to the race(s) with which you identify. Select the Explain link to read the race descriptions. Question 2 BackNext or

10 Ethnic Group If you wish to select an ethnicity and race, complete questions 1 and 2 and select Save. Update Information BackNext
