Develop new products in a team environment via members of a cross-functional team Optimize formulas, processing, and ingredients for current branded products Collaborate with plant technical staffs to expedite new product development approval process Manage new product development manufacturing Work with outside co-packer and/or internal staffs Develop time lines for all technical aspects of new product development Develop all specifications for new products including ingredient and finished product interface with marketing team on all new product development and brand strategy issues This position requires a high degree of interaction with co-manufacturers, vendors, and other company divisions Job Duties & Responsibilities

Qualities & Skills Meat scientists should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will also need to be a qualified leader and be organized and intuitive enough to manage large projects. Meat scientists should be precise, inquisitive, and determined. They should have skills in commerce and research, and they should be knowledgeable in necessary safety precautions and laboratory procedures.

The average salary range for a meat scientist/engineer is from $50,000 to $75,000 per year. With the increase of education and experiences, salary will increase as well. Salary

Education To enter into the field of meat science you must obtain your bachelor’s of science in meat science. This is a requirement to be employed in any of the field of meat science. A Master’s degree is preferred.
