What is Torque? It is a force to turn or rotate things. Torque is a necessary requirement in automotive for attaching components to each other. Torque is also used to describe the pulling power of an engine.

How Do You Measure Torque? TTorque is measured in: AA. Pound Foot (standard) 1. 1 pound of pressure one foot away from object you are turning BB. Newton Meter (metric) 1. 1-Kilogram of pressure one meter away from the object your are turning

Why Do We Need To Know About Torque 1. Different size bolts can withstand only a certain amount of twisting. a. different grades of bolts of the same size will withstand different amounts of twisting. 2. Different materials that are being held together can only withstand a certain amount of torque. a. this torque in many cases will be a lot less than what the bolt can withstand.
