2. Meet The Author White Plains Elementary will begin having a “Skype an Author” day with the students.  This event will be held in the media center.  Every class will participate during their scheduled “library time” each week.

3. Prior to the event… Using websites such as http://skypeanauthor.wetpaint.com/ the media specialist will choose and author in which to focus. http://skypeanauthor.wetpaint.com/ Once an author has been chosen, the media specialist will begin an author study.  Read books by that author during classes’ library time  Make a bulletin board outside the library with pictures/facts about the author  Have websites available in which students can find more information

4. Setting up the event… Once the author study is completed, the media specialist will use the website mentioned and Skype to set up the “Skype an Author” session. Students can write down questions based on their reading and their research to ask the author.

5. Our Goal For the 2011-2012 School Year:  Two “Skype an Author” sessions during the Fall semester.  Four “Skype an Author” sessions during the Spring semester. For the 2012-2013 School Year:  One “Skype an Author” session each month. We believe this program will inspire students to read books and research more about them.
