6 Planning Instrument ► Team members make preliminary judgments for each standard and element 3 = Target 2 = Acceptable 1 = Unacceptable 0 = Data are not available for making an initial judgment ► Judgments are shared at the beginning of the visit among team members Excerpt from Planning Instrument

7 Electronic Exhibits ► ► NCATE is requiring all institutions to utilize electronic document rooms ► ► It is an expectation that members of the NCATE Cluster review the exhibits before arriving at the site visit ► ► Cluster members will review most exhibits online…limited printing of documents/exhibits NCATE Web page—sample exhibit rooms

9 Report writing ► No personal opinions. ► No identification of individuals—either positive or negative. ► Grammar and spelling do count. ► This is a public, professional document. ► When identifying groups of people, refer to those in preparation programs as candidates and those in K-12 schools as students. Various NCATE resources

10 California’s Common Standards COA has adopted a CTC-NCATE Crosswalk In addition, the 4 Sentences from the California Common Standards MUST be addressed by the IHE and reviewed by the California members of the NCATE Cluster CTC-NCATE Crosswalk

11 Work with other Team Members ► Team members focusing on each credential program—work as a team and request information from all team members ► Biennial Reports—programs will have submitted one Biennial Report. Team members focusing on the approved programs will review this—especially important for NCATE Unit Standard 1

12 NCATE and CTC Co-Chairs ► ► According to the California Protocol—the visit is led by Co-Chairs. California Co-Chair is an experienced BIR member who has served on a number of teams and as an NCATE Cluster member. ► ► Co-Chair attends the Pre-Visit and works with the NCATE Co-Chair. ► ► State Consultant is another resource.

13 Report—what happens after the visit? California-COA Report is completed by Wednesday except for minor edits Summary of Report is presented to unit Meeting within 2 Months California Co-Chair presents the report to the COA CTC Consultant is present Accreditation Decision is made by the COA NCATE — UAB DRAFT Exit Report is presented to Dean NCATE Co-Chair facilitates completion of the report Specific Timelines for Factual Corrections Rejoinder by the Institution March/April or October—the Accreditation Decision is made by the UAB
