WARM UP: http://www.neok12.com/video/Seasons/zX674c51737f7a505b044f67.htm What is weather? Read page 6-11 in your Jason Project books (you need to share!)
3
Weather-the state of the atmosphere at a given time and place. Fill in your note page!
4
The Water Cycle and the Sun The Sun (1) powers the water cycle. Solar power causes water in the ocean (5) to evaporate (3), condense (2) into clouds and fall back to Earth as precipitation (4). (2)
5
Earth’s shape and tilt Earth is round. Different parts get different amounts of sunlight. The equator gets the most direct sunlight. The poles get indirect sunlight. (3)
6
Cause : Air pressure Effect : Wind movement Air pressure differences cause wind. Wind is moving air. Warmer areas have low pressure Cooler areas have high pressure Air likes to move from high pressure areas into low pressure areas.
7
On the BACK of your notes is our weather chart! WE will fill this out together so please keep these in your NOTES section! Check out the weather bug on the Cardinal Ridge Roof!Cardinal Ridge Roof! JML Weather Bug: Use this link to fill out your weather chart!this link

Heat moves around- Convection, Conduction, and Radiation Types of weather Types of fronts- cold front & warm fronts Measurement tools for weather- thermometer, barometer, rain gauge, hygrometer/psychrometer Cloud formation and types of clouds Air pressure in weather What to KNOW:
9
The TROPOSPHERE air is constantly moving too. There are CONVECTION currents of air. Warm air from the equator moves toward the poles and cold air from the poles moves toward the equator.
10
Thinking about our Weather How does weather affect air travel and safety? How does daily weather affect YOUR afterschool plans? http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/ja ms/science/weather-and-climate/weather- and-climate.htm
