1 The Brainstorming Process
Developing Ideas The Brainstorming Process

2 Six Basic Steps to Brainstorming
1. Announce/Determine the topic, problem 2. Take a few minutes to think & write ideas 3. Everyone contributes ideas 4. Any additional suggestions are added 5. Entire list recorded on the board/paper 6. Discuss ideas to narrow choices (focus on the good) PLEASE NOTE: Never criticize ideas. That is NOT part of this process and is even counter productive.

3 Advantages of Brainstorming
No one person can dominate the discussion Every idea is important and equal for purposes of group evaluation New ideas can be inspired by other ideas Two or more ideas can combine to create a better idea A large number of ideas can be generated in fewer than 10 minutes Supports the family attitude of our yearbook staff

4 Always Remember This… Every idea gets the chance to grow wings and fly. If it is not a strong enough idea, it will crash and die on its own. It is not YOUR personal job to attack an idea you do not like. Instead of criticizing the ideas you dislike, praise the ones you do like! EVERYONE is expected to participate in brainstorming sessions. You never know when you are going to have that brilliant idea we were looking for. 
