2  Aim of the study: -Students find difficulty in learning and recalling English vocabulary. -The aim of the study is to find a technique that facilitates learning vocabulary and help students to acquire and recall them better, in order to be used by English teacher inside the class. 22/11/2015 The effectiveness of using games in teaching vocabulary in Saudi Arabian Secondary school. 2 Aim of the study

4  The methodology of the study: -The experiment has been done at Saudi Arabian Secondary School. -Normally, each class studies English Subject four hours per-week. -They use an English Course book that design by Ministry of education in Saudi. -The course book teaches new vocabulary in separate section on each unit. 22/11/2015 The effectiveness of using games in teaching vocabulary in Saudi Arabian Secondary school. 4 The methodology of the study

5 Gender: Female. Age: 16 years-old. Level: first stage at secondary school. Class: students are divided into three classes. 6  The experiment: There are two groups of vocabulary. Each group has been taught by and without games in different classes in the same day. In each class, students have been taught the vocabulary for 45 minutes, and then they have a break for 15 minutes. After that they were given a short test about those vocabularies. 7  First Day: Test descriptionBreak Short Procedure Number of words Class Students are given five definitions for the words that they had learned, and have to write the correct term for each. For 15 minutes -With game. -First they discover the new words by using hangman, they shout letters randomly, and They are given clues: first letter & vowel letters. -Have a discussion about the meaning of them with examples. Students have to discover the meaning and say it in Arabic. Then they read these words from the book with definitions. -The application is using these words to solve gross word game. 51/3 & 1/2 The same testFor 15 minutes They have been taught traditional without using game. Students open their books and read the new words with their definitions. 8 TestShort BreakProcedureNumber of wordsClass Eight definitions and students supposed to write the words. 15 minutes -Together, using a hangman to discover the word. Then discuses its meaning by given its definition and examples. -Students said the meaning in Arabic. Then they have two applications: 1-Some students were given cards of the words and other cards of definition. Each one who have definition had read it, and the one who has the correct term show the card to the class. 2-The students were divided into two teams. Both were given pieces of papers of words and definitions. They to match the words with the definitions. 8 words 1/1 The same test15 minutesNo games.
