Cell Processes A Review
2
Maryland Science Content Standard (Photosynthesis and CR) Based on data from readings and designed investigations, cite evidence to illustrate that the life functions of multicellular organisms (plant and animal) are carried out within complex systems of different tissues, organs and cells. Extracting energy from food Getting rid of wastes Making raw materials
3
Maryland Science Content Standard (Cell Division) Based on research and examples from video technology explain that the repeated division of cells enables organisms to grow and make repairs.
4
What You Know Plant cells make food Photosynthesis Plant and animal cells create energy from the food (glucose) they make (photosynthesis for plants) or eat (animals consume) Cellular Respiration Plant and animal cells replicate (divide) in order to grow, develop and repair with the energy produced during cellular respiration Cell Division
5
Prove Your Knowledge Read Cells and Heredity: –Chapter 2: Section 4 on Cancer Complete the Chapter 2 Review and Assessment –At the end of Chapter 2 (around page 72 in green book) –Work individually –All work to be completed in notebooks in complete sentences (including true/false, multiple choice etc.) –These are your notes, fragmented answers will not help you later.
6
When You Are Complete Go to the same assignment through the book online. –Each question there will have a hint –The hint will take you to the place in the book where you can find the correct answer –Click on the hint to check your answer in the book –Do this for all questions to ensure accuracy!
7
Final Thoughts Using the flow chart you created on Friday (and finish that if it is not finished), write a fluid paragraph explaining how photosynthesis, cellular respiration and cell division are connected in plant cells and the difference in animal cells. The emphasis should be on the connection, not on all the individual facts you know.
