2. 19-September-2007 Helsinki EURISOL-EURONS Town Meeting 2/6 20 years ago, the Portuguese collaboration started at ISOLDE- CERN. We are known users of short-lived radioactive isotope beams with different techniques, for applied research; 15 years ago, we started ion-source development at GSI; 10 years ago, we started innovative pulsed-power development using new topologies and semiconductor devices.Motivation

3. 19-September-2007 Helsinki EURISOL-EURONS Town Meeting 3/6 Recovery region ISOLDE 60 kV Target Voltage swing during proton impact This JRA proposal aims to go further ahead … These 20 years of interdisciplinary research resulted in a technological transfer approved 25 k€ Portuguese funding project, associated with the development of a new negative voltage target modulator for ISOLDE-CERN, to improve short-lived radioactive negative ion beam yield, < 50ms.Motivation

4. 19-September-2007 Helsinki EURISOL-EURONS Town Meeting 4/6 Core activity (4 years) cope with the next generation of RIB facilities.The core activity off this JRA is the development of high-performance, fast & stable, pulsed-power modulators for effective-use of RIB, improving the present status and cope with the next generation of RIB facilities.

CONTRIBUTING to the effective-use of RIB and to cope with new Technology transfer coming challenges for the new RIB facilities & Technology transfer.Innovation? This JRA-3 explores and applies the state-of-the-art of: NEW POWER SEMICONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGY and original CIRCUIT TOPOLOGY CONCEPS WITH MODULAR ASSEMBLING Today similar technology is applied to the most challenging INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS, … being now proposed to replace existing modulators of RIB facilities.

For users of GENERAL TNA facilities where beam tuning match pulsed-power applications, technological transfer. This JRA aims to:This JRA aims to: gather more capabilities exchange of know-how students to speed-up R&D WHILE extending it to other applications and TNA facilities. - With the international collaboration and €  Portuguese funding can be renewed and increased!
