Muscles of the face originate on the surface of the skull and insert into the dermis of the skin…when the muscles contract, the skin moves Largest group of facial muscles are associated with the mouth

Region: cephalic/mouth Action: compresses cheeks towards teeth Ex: playing a trumpet

Region: cephalic/mouth Action: compresses, purses lips Ex: kissing

Region: cephalic/mouth Action: depresses corner of mouth Ex: frowning

Region: cephalic/mouth Action: draws corner of mouth upward Ex: smiling

Region: cephalic/eye Action: closes eye Ex: blinking, squinting

Region: cephalic/scalp Action: raises eyebrow, wrinkles forehead
