Conclusion I hate to think what would happen if my pager went off at 9 years 12 months 30 days and 23 hours post my most recent certification… Legally, I would no longer be qualified to operate the bypass equipment when the patient was ready!!!! As bad as when we have to change our oxygenator after 6 hours!! Conclusion Perfusionists are some of the most dedicated individuals in the operating room. –Taking another exam will not improve this. –Increasing the CE requirement may increase our knowledge and improve our change/acceptance of change rate Finally, I can find no evidence to support the idea that recertification will improve our profession!!
