3 HEALTH…  Concerns EVERYTHING about YOU. –YOU are in charge of YOUR own Health  Is dynamic –Always changing  Different levels of health from day to day.  Effects: –How you look, feel and act –Attitudes and performance –Relationships with others

4 3 Aspects of Health  Physical Health –Care for your body –Ability to meet the demands of daily living  Mental Health –YOU and YOUR feelings –Being able to express your emotions in an acceptable, healthy way –Ability to face problems and daily stressors

5 Aspects Cont…  Social Health  Ability to :  get along with others  make friends and keep them  work and play in a cooperative manner  seek and lend support when necessary

6 The Health Triangle  Need to balance ALL 3 to remain in good health.  A “wrinkle” in one DIRECTLY effects the others. Physical SocialMental

7 Practicing Basic Health Habits  Involves much more than knowing what to do. –It combines knowledge with positive actions & decsions.  Our attitudes effect how we take care of ourselves.  DO NOT get caught up in the: –“That won’t happen to me” syndrome  If you maintain that attitude, it is unlikely you will change any of your negative health behaviors.
