Potential Energy- is energy that is stored in an object.
It is due to the object’s position or to substances the object is made of.
Example: A diver standing on the diving board has potential energy because she is above Earth’s surface and will fall due to the force of Earth’s gravity.

Energy that an object has because it is moving is kinetic energy.
Energy often changes back and forth between potential and kinetic energy.
