Warm Up: Character Like Me Date: February 23 rd, 2015 Prompt: So far, which character seems most like you? Why do you think so? Use evidence from the text to support your thoughts. Remember, using page numbers and chapter references are perfect. Put this in your Warm Up book. This is “Page 1” in your Novel Study Journal.

Discussion Questions Copy down and answer in your journals/sheet of paper. TKAM: 1.What does Scout think of current fashions in education? 2.What superstitions do the children have in connection with the Radley house? 3.Why do the children make Boo's story into a game? 4.What do they do in this game? Do you think the game is an accurate version of what happens in the Radleys' home? 5.What might be the cause of the laughter from inside the house? ROTHMC: 1.Describe Mr. L.T. Morrison. Why does he come to stay with the Logans? 2.Compare Stacey Logan and T.J. Avery. 3.How would you describe Stacey and T.J.’s friendship?

Characters What is unique about the characters within your book? How well do you think they represent children and adults of that era? What struggles have they faced so far that seem appropriate for that time? Which seem to be fictional?

Compare & Contrast Matrix You have received a handout entitled “Compare & Contrast Matrix” on one side and “Walking in Someone Else’s Shoes” on the other. On the first side (“Compare & Contrast”), you will be comparing characters from TKAM and either ROTHMC or The Hunger Games. Most of the handout is self-explanatory. Listen as I provide examples and further details.
