2. Help America Vote Act  Provides funding to help accomplish the various requirements of the Act

3. Grant Program  $6,311,477 available  80% state funds  20% county match

4. Possible voting systems under HAVA  Precinct count optical scan  Central count optical scan  DRE  Punch card  Paper ballots

5. Funds may be used to upgrade  Optical scan systems  DRE systems Any system must be certified by the Secretary of State

6. Funds may be used for:  Precinct count optical scan systems  Central count optical scan counter  DRE devices  Accessible voting devices  Voting booths  Initial software license fees

7. May be used for (cont.)  Training costs related to new systems  Hardware or software upgrades to meet Federal Voting System Standards  Ballot transfer cases

8. May not be used for:  Annual maintenance fees  Annual software license fees  Storage facilities or fees for equipment  Delivery costs for voting equipment

9. Application process  Grant application and agreement Narrative Budget  Contract with vendor  Submit invoices and county match to Secretary of State  Performance reports
