1
Purpose To provide information on commercially available weighing systems for aircraft and ground systems.
2
Ground equipment and vehicle Axle Scale
3
Background MCAS Beaufort does not have an in-ground or mobile axle scale. The nearest scales are located at a truck weigh station in Georgia, approximately 1 hour from the air station. This squadron currently utilizes individual wheel scales to weigh all equipment, which is a timely process, causing significant delays in the throughput process.
4
Background During axles scale testing, a scale site was established, the squadron was able to weigh 25 items of rolling stock and containers significantly faster than the current method. It took 3 hours from set up to tear down. Using the current method, this would have taken 6-8 hours.
