1. Presentation to the 26 th CEOS Plenary at Bengaluru, India 24-27 October, 2012 CEOS engagement for GEO and UNFCCC meetings in late 2012 GEOIX – engagement and readiness COP18 – engagement and readiness Rajeev Jaiswal, ISRO

2. The 26 th CEOS Plenary – Bengaluru, India - 24-27 October, 2012 GEO-IX Plenary Outreach  Kerry Sawyer, DCEO will lead the delegation along with Brent Smith from NOAA and Emin Bank from Tubitak  Kim Keith, along with Ms Denisse Aranda, of SEO, will host a CEOS booth that is typical of past GEO meetings.  The SEO has contacted GEO to indicate interest in having a CEOS booth  CEO and SEO will coordinate outreach materials from various CEOS groups including newsletters (JAXA), one-page CEOS statement (CEO), CEOS Constellation posters, and charts on CEOS organization and key projects, etc.  We will be preparing a written CEOS statement and providing a verbal statement during Plenary; both statements will be coordinated with CEOS Agencies. The 26 th CEOS Plenary – Bengaluru, India - 24-27 October, 2012 COP18 – Outreach/ SBSTA 37 Plans  Accredited participants with CEOS affiliation will be:  Mark Dowell, EC-JRC  Frank Martin Seifert, ESA  Jack Kaye, NASA  Thelma Krug, INPE COP 18/SBSTA 37 in Doha, Qatar on November 26-December 7  As the WGClimate Chair, Mark Dowell will provide a report on the CEOS Response to the GCOS IP-10. He and Frank Martin will confer on this process.  National delegations are encouraged to provide supportive statements following the CEOS presentation, particularly with regard to continuity of space-based observations and full and open data sharing to support climate monitoring and research.

4. The 26 th CEOS Plenary – Bengaluru, India - 24-27 October, 2012 COP18 – Outreach/ SBSTA 37 Plans  The CEOS Response to the GCOS IP-10 has been uploaded to the UNFCCC-COP 18 website  FCC/SBSTA/2012/MISC.14, dated 16 Oct 12  Update on progress made by space agencies involved in global observations in their coordinated response to relevant needs of the Global Climate Observing System and the Convention. 5. The 26 th CEOS Plenary – Bengaluru, India - 24-27 October, 2012  UNFCCC has approved ESA's request for a side event at COP-18 on "Monitoring and Adapting to Change in the Cryosphere“  The Cryosphere provides early indicators of climate change. ESA explains how satellites help monitor and understand global changes in ice-sheets, glaciers and sea-ice, and are used with traditional local knowledge for adaptation in polar regions.  The side event will take place on Thursday 29 October between 18:30 - 20:00in Side Event room 3, at the Qatar National Convention Centre  The ESA exhibit is still under negotiation.  The EU is also proposing to have a dedicated climate session in the EU pavilion with three sessions proposed: One session on the Climate architecture from space (CEOS, CGMS, WMO); One session on the European GMES One session focused on a European member (member TBD) COP18 – Outreach/ SBSTA 37 Plans Thank you to ESA and EU for highlighting CEOS in exhibits/sessions
