Description of Project Students will create three separate drawings that will eventually go together containing distinct, different, or similar visual messages. Before we can do this... We need to learn: 1. Value 2. Form 3. Composition 4. Color Theory 5. Charcoal 6. Anatomy

Value A range of darks to lights. When combined in the correct manner, something begins to take on 3D qualities. Value creates interest to a piece.

Form vs. Shape A shape is an element of art that contains 2D qualities. Length and width. A form is a shape that now contains 3D qualities. Length, width, and height. Shape Form

Composition The arrangement of the visual elements of art. A common rule of practice for perfecting composition is the rule of thirds.

Color Theory This one is complicated. We will cover the basics: red blue,yellow 1. Primary colors: red, blue, yellow orangegreen violet 2. Secondary Colors: orange, green, and violet. 3. Complimentary Colors: orange/blue, red/green, violet/yellow. 4. How color conveys mood and meaning.
