1 Finding and Documenting Quotes from Secondary Sources Utilizing: Jasper Ffordes’ “The Eyre Affair” Presentation by Haley Mayclin

2 Introduction You are going to read Jasper Ffordes’ novel, “The Eyre Affair”. This book, Ffordes’ first, was recognized by the American Library Association with an Alex Award in 2003. The Alex Awards are given to books written for adults that the awards committee believes will be enjoyed most by young adults.

3 Outline Find Jasper Fforde on the Internet. Find Fforde’s own web site, and another web site containing something about Fforde (not a commercial site). Read two interviews about Fforde. Select two quotes from each of the articles and document the sources.

4 Internet Search Use a search engine to find Jasper Fforde on the Internet. Go to www.google.comwww.google.com Type in the search field: “Jasper Fforde”. The first result is www.jasperfforde.comwww.jasperfforde.com

5 Finding Interviews Find the journalist resources on Fforde’s page. Locate articles given by Fforde. Pay attention to questions about the novel, its themes, and the writing process. Utilize a search engine to find another useful site about “The Eyre Affair”. This site should not be commercial or a fan site. Example: American Library AssociationAmerican Library Association

7 You will turn in to me at the end of the class period the four quotes, properly cited, two articles, and the url’s for the two web sites you found today. Your work will be completed in Word and e-mailed to me at msmayclin@teacher.edumsmayclin@teacher.edu
