PROJECT MANAGEMENT Definitions WBS = Work Breakdown Structure
OBS = Organisation Breakdown Structure ABS = Activity Breakdown Structure PBS = Product Breakdown Structure RBS = Resource Breakdown Structure
2
PROJECT MANAGEMENT Definitions
ES = Early Start = the earliest time an activity can start EF = Early Finish = the earliest time an activity can finish LS = Late Start = the latest time an activity can start LF = Late Finish = the latest time an activity can finish
3
PROJECT MANAGEMENT Definitions
TF = Total Float = delayed time to start an activity without changing the project completion date = LS - ES FF = Free Float = how much delay an activity can have without affecting the beginning of the next activity
4
PROJECT MANAGEMENT Exercise Inizio = Start; Fine = End; Giorni = Days
5
PROJECT MANAGEMENT Attività = Activity Attività A Attività B
Attività C ES 1 3 EF 6 2 5 LS 4 LF TF FF
6
PROJECT MANAGEMENT Focus on B Activity. TF = 8 days; FF = 2 days
7
PROJECT MANAGEMENT TF = 8 days. Activity B can start 8 days later without affecting project completion. FF = 2 days. Activity B can delay 2 days without affecting next activities
8
PROJECT MANAGEMENT FORWARD PASS For each activity (i) we calculate:
EF(i) = ES(i)+Duration(i)-1 ES(i)=MAX( EFprev)+1 BACKWARD PASS LS(i)=LF(i)-Duration+1 LF(i)=MIN(LSnext)-1
9
PROJECT MANAGEMENT TF(i) = LS(i) – ES(i) FF(i) = MIN (ESnext) – EF(i)
CRITICAL PATH all activities where TF=0.
