July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino Overview of the new phase of Barbara Mascialino July 26 th 2004

July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino Introduction First Phase First Phase already completed March 19 thLast March 19 th started Second Phase the Second Phase. Its aim is to bring the requirements resulting General Study from the General Study operative phase into an operative phase, software developing a software system system to fulfil them.

July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino The simulation tool will useful be useful for space applications: - astronauts radioprotection, - airlines pilots radioprotection, - human presence in the space. HUMEX a study on the survivability and adaptation of humans to long-duration exploratory missions

July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino Manyfold applications The outcome of the project would be relevant also for: biological experimentsbiological experiments radiotherapyradiotherapy radiobiologyradiobiology physicsphysics (micro and nano-dosimetric studies) technology transferfrom the space environment to the societytechnology transfer from the space environment to the society

July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino Study plan 1 project environment1 : study of the project environment 2 application prototype2 : creation of a application prototype 3 application cellular DNA3 : development of the prototype and related components into an articulated application aimed at modelising the radiation effects at cellular and DNA levels.

July 26th, 2004INFN-Genova Barbara Mascialino United Software Development ProcessUnited Software Development Process RUP –practical guidance and tools from the RUP –mapping onto ISO 15504 Incremental and iterative life cycle model The software will be devolped through a series iterations of iterations, each one visiting all the main software disciplines Software process guidelines SPIRAL APPROACH
