3 What’s the big picture? Why are some firms more successful than others? This is the central question in strategy. We take a broad view of ‘success’, whereby companies balance economic goals against the long term consequences of managerial action We give our students the critical analytical skills needed to make complex business decisions, an action-oriented perspective of firms’ strategic processes, and the contextual understanding to become strategists in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global business environment
