1. The Nutcracker A ballet

2. Intro This month I saw The Nutcracker, a ballet. It was a very interesting and beautiful play. There were lots of fun scenes with different costumes, music and dances. I had fun watching it. And here is something else interesting about it… it was silent! None of the actors talked, although there was music and some narration.

3. Plot The first scene was of a family having a holiday party, in the olden times, the main character being a little girl. There are lots of fun, colorful and old fashioned costumes. Children and adults dance and socialize. During the party the girl receives a nutcracker as a gift, and a boy scares the girl with a rat he finds. That night the girl has a dream… The second scene is in the girl’s dream. She is watching a battle of a bunch of rats and a rat king against her nutcracker and his men. They dance about and the nutcracker prevails.

4. Plot (cont.) The third scene is the dance sugar plum fairies. As the girl taken to a magical place, the fairies, surrounded by snow dance. The fourth scene is the girl and others watch a series of different dances. They are all fun and unique. One is a dance of a dragon and a dragon fighter, another is one of some fun characters in colorful costumes, another is some cute children. One is the famous dance of the sugar plum fairy, who is elegant and beautiful. Then is the dance of flower people, then it is time to go.
