The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development Program is a partnership between education, industry, local and state governments and economic development organizations to develop programs that our community will use to become sought after skilled workers. Our workforce task force is supporting the Trades Academy to help develop our future workforce to ensure a strong and vital economy for our community.

Manufacturing Facts In 2012, the average manufacturing worker in the United States earned $77,505 annually, including pay and benefits. The average worker in all industries earned $62,063. Taken alone, manufacturing in the United States would be the 8th largest economy in the world. Over 12 million Americans (or 9 percent of the workforce) are employed directly in manufacturing.

Manufacturing as a Career The demands of manufacturing require increased knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) areas and the skills of problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and team work. The growing use of technology and innovations require skilled workers and educational programs that address the demand for a highly skilled workforce.
