LegalismLove  God makes rules.  He punishes us if we break them.  God loves us and wants the best for us.  “The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple” (Ps. 19:7) showing us how to avoid doing things that harm ourselves and others.  God can give us both the desire and the power to do what pleases him. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” --Phil. 2:13, NLT

We trust ourselves more. “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” Proverbs 14:12 NLT 3.WEAKNESS: The temptation is stronger than our willpower. “I want to do what is good, but I don't. 12.  If sin is an illusion, the only “solution” is denial.  If sin is the gap between our actions and God’s best for us, then there is hope for things to get better. We can repent. God can change our hearts and our actions. He can transform us. We can stop doing those things that hurt God, us, and other people, and live in love.

13. None of us wants to hear the words, “You have cancer.” But if we have cancer, hearing those words can be the first step to healing. Sin is like a potentially deadly cancer. If we pretend it is not there, it will kill us. If we face up to it, we can be healed.
