2  This could potentially be a problem for the rise in healthcare. Patients could also have to much control over diagnostic procedures. The computer based medical information could be providing the general population with perceived standards of healthcare. Patients with certain kinds of insurance could obtain MRI’s more frequently. These are some things that caught my attention pertaining to this topic.

3  What contradictions are associated with MRI’s?  Do patients with certain insurance policies obtain MRIs more frequently?  Do patients have too much control over diagnostic procedures?  Is the overuse of MRI’s affecting the rising cost of health?  Is the overexposure to magnetic rays damaging to the patient?

4  Contradictions found about MRI’s are that critics are attesting to overuse but, MRI’s are safer and faster than any other diagnostic procedure.  Patients with bigger and better insurance policies could possibly obtain more MRI’s because the hospital or practice knows the test will be paid for.  Over 50% of the Physicians that answered the questionnaire answered that they do feel pressured by their patients when they are not satisfied with what they hear.  Diagnostic testing is highly expensive therefore, higher priced insurance is an obvious repercussion. If MRI’s are being overused than more insurance is being used, resulting in higher premiums.  Not enough adequate information was found to decide whether magnetic rays were damaging.
