Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

What is PTSD? PTSD is anxiety disorder that is triggered by a very traumatic event. Someone might get PTSD after event that causes extreme fear, helplessness, or tragedy.

What are the symptoms of PTSD? Symptoms may consist of nightmares, feeling fearful, or feeling numb. Also they might find it hard to stop thinking about the event which caused it. Some get the symptoms very quick while others it make take years. These symptoms could go away within days or years in others it may never go away.

Who is prone to PTSD? Soldiers that have returned from a war are most likely to see something traumatic that would effect them. Victims of rape or attempted murder also are at risk. Anyone that has had a family member or close friend die recently is at risk.

How can you tell if someone has PTSD? If some one is constantly stressed, mad, or depressed. When someone experiences these feeling for a long period of time then you know they have PTSD.

What are ways to get rid of PTSD? There is no actually cure for PTSD but there are ways to cure it. One way is to talk to someone about it, by talking to someone about it your slowly letting it go and letting it become something of the past. Sometimes it may help to revisit the event, by revisiting it shows you are not afraid of it.
