Place-Value Chart The decimal point separates the whole number part of the decimal from the part that is less than one.

STANDARD FORM Standard Form is the usual way to write a decimal, such as 3.52. Example: Write one hundred fifteen and twelve thousandths in standard form.

On Your Own… 1. Write twelve and four tenths in standard form. 2. Write thirty-four and three thousandths.

EXPANDED FORM Expanded Form is the sum of the products digit and its place. Example: Write four and twelve thousandths in standard form and expanded form.

On Your Own… 1. Write twenty and sixteen thousandths in standard form and expanded form. 2. Write one hundred and eleven hundredths in standard form and expanded form. 3. Write (2 × 10) + (4 × 1) + (8 × 0.001) in standard form.
