2 Place-Value Chart The decimal point separates the whole number part of the decimal from the part that is less than one.

3 STANDARD FORM Standard Form is the usual way to write a decimal, such as 3.52. Example: Write one hundred fifteen and twelve thousandths in standard form.

4 On Your Own… 1. Write twelve and four tenths in standard form. 2. Write thirty-four and three thousandths.

5 EXPANDED FORM Expanded Form is the sum of the products digit and its place. Example: Write four and twelve thousandths in standard form and expanded form.

6 On Your Own… 1. Write twenty and sixteen thousandths in standard form and expanded form. 2. Write one hundred and eleven hundredths in standard form and expanded form. 3. Write (2 × 10) + (4 × 1) + (8 × 0.001) in standard form.
