5. What I’m Looking For: All students will be able to describe religious teachings and attitudes on world issues. Most students will be able to explain religious attitudes to world issues, using religious teachings. Some students will be able to evaluate religious teachings and attitudes towards key world issues.

6. Think: How could you find out what the Christian views are on the issue of abortion?

8. There are many ways in which we could research religious views and teachings. However there are some important factors to consider: 1)Sacred texts like the Bible were written many years ago. There may not be a specific teaching. In these situations Christians would turn to teachings they felt were relevant. eg. Thou shall not kill. eg. Thou shall not kill. 2)Religions do not always agree. There are many different Christian denominations and they do not always have the same views as each other, perhaps they have focused on different teachings. Make sure you consider different points of view. 3)Sometimes there are no clear religious views and the religions leave it to an individuals conscience to decide what to do depending on the situation.

9. Your Task: Working in groups you are to research the religious teachings and attitudes towards war & conflict using the resources available. Before you begin, decide on what role each member of the group will take. eg. Who will research on the internet? Who will use text books? Your teacher will tell you which religion they would like you to research and give you a time limit in which to do this.

10. TIME IS UP!!!! As a group create a mind map to show what you have learnt about the Religion you were given and their views on War & Conflict.

11. In 3’s you have 90 secs to talk to each other. 1 st person – describe what you have done. 2 nd person – explain how you did it and why. 3 rd person – Explain how the skills you’ve learnt today might be useful outside of school.
