1
Application of action researches in early child development Prof.d-r Lena Damovska Faculty of philosophy Skopje Institute of pedagogy
2
Action researches What are action researches? Why action researches? Advantages and weaknesses
3
Classic researches usually follow few steps: -Identifying the problem; -Studying the problem; -Determination of the goals and tasks; -Setting up hypothesis; -Collecting data; -Обработка на податоци; -Drawing conclusions.
4
Action researches - flaws of classic pedagogy researches are exceeded; -passive role of data collector is exceeded; -The researcher brings in changes and measures the performance of those changes, he follows his intervention
5
first we start with measuring current situation and conditions that are being determined, after that, on the basis of received results action strategy is being developed after that the strategy is applied and we measure its effect over the subjects if strategy doesn’t meet the expectations additional changes are being incorporated with the additional checks of the results so in the end we can get the desired results
6
action research follows the constant action, which isn’t predetermined and it doesn’t include constant compliance between assessment, giving new solutions and immediate intervention; assessment is done by checking the hypothesis, followed by revision and setting up new hypothesis;
7
Action research are reflecting researches, with constant solving of the problems that occur They are focused on current practice which eminently lead towards constant action Knowledge comes from action and leads towards new action
8
Which are potential weaknesses of action researches: -Problem with compliance of actions in research; -Every new action presumes flexibility, change of strategy;
9
Once the change is implemented in previous model of research it should be very clear which of the implemented changes made crucial influence over the research; Implementing constant changes can influence final conclusions, how convincing and how reliable they are;
10
Models of action research Identifying or formulating the problem Plan for collecting data Collecting data Analyzing data Reporting results Planning the action
11
Models Identifying an idea Looking up facts and analysis General plan of action 1,2,3 Implementation of action steps Following the effects Mistakes reconstruction Review of general idea
12
Models Improved plan of action Implementation of the following action steps Following and implementation of the effects Reconstruction of some mistakes Improved plan Action
13
Action research has democratic character Action research develops as spiral of cycles of planning, working, supervising and reflecting Action research has participative character
14
Characteristics of the researcher Researcher needs to have above all the following traits : objectivity; Solid knowledge of the problem he is researching; Correct selection of research steps and instruments; Objectivity with interpretation of collected data.
15
Project of research Structure of research Creating a project Idea project Study project
16
Structural elements od idea project Problem approach Subject of research Defining basic terms with the subject of research Goal and task of the research Hypothesis Sample of research Methods, techniques and instruments Processing of data
17
Characteristics of research in early childhood Ethic dimension of research Availability of data Selection of real research method Attention should always be paid to: 1.Possibility of bringing unpleasant emotions, 2.stress, 3.egocentrism, 4.limited attention, 5.Quick change of interest, 6.Qualitative development difference with same age children
18
Selection of problem for research Group work
