NOTES Preceding Events (causes & connections) 1.The cause for King Philip's war was because of the Europeans. 2.They tried to push the Indians out of their territory and ship them off to deserted islands and they died after the cold and harsh winter. 3.The Indians were forced to sell their land against their will, then the Europeans forced them out of the territory with violence, which started the King Phillip's War. 4.King Phillip also sold people his land for money, then he had a war against the buyers and got his land back, and he kept the money to buy weapons.

THE EVENT 1.The King Phillip's war started in June, 1675. 2.The King Phillip's war ended in August, 1676, shortly after Metacom was captured and beheaded. 3.The King Phillip’s war (also known as Metacom’s Rebellion) marked the last major effort by the Indians of southern New England to drive out the English settlers. 4.The King Phillip’s war was the most devastating war between the colonists and the Native Americans. The war is named for Metacom, who was the son of Massasoit and the chief of the Wampanoag. 5.The King Phillip’s war began when a band of Wamponoag warriors raid the border settlement of Swansee, Massachusetts, and massacre the English colonists there. 6.The King Phillip’s war was the bloodiest war in America. Many people were killed or injured. This was a bad war.

5. EFFECTS OF THE WAR 1.A while after the war started, King Phillip has been found dead. 2.A lot of people were injured and/ or killed.

6. THE PEOPLE WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THIS WAR 1.King Phillip (also known as Metacom) 2.Native Americans of England. 3.The sons of Massasoit.

7. THE PLACES WHERE THIS WAR TOOK PLACE 1.This war happened on the eastern coast of what we know now as, the United States of America. These are what we call the places that this war was in, now: a)Massachusetts b)Connecticut c)Rhode Island d)Maine

Weren’t they happy enough with their own land. 7.Why did King Phillip want to make money in such a bad way? There were a lot of other ways to make money.
