NILE RIVER VALLEY Nile River is located in “Africa” Between 6000 B.C and 5000 B.C hunters and food gathers moved into the Nile River Valley. Farm the land and set villages along river banks. They were the earliest “Egyptians”

The Nile River is surrounded by the Largest Desert in the world “Sahara” It is the world longest river at 4,000 miles. The Nile begins as two separate rivers, Blue Nile and White Nile. The Nile had regular flooding because of melting snow and heavy rains.

Egyptians were successful farmers. Reed plant “Papyrus” was a useful resource. Egyptians harvest baskets, sandals, and river rafts. Papyrus was a paper maker ( writing paper) for Egyptian.

Egyptians form of writing is “Hieroglyphics” Made up of Hundreds of picture symbols. Symbols stood for objects and ideas. Scribe were the writers who carved hieroglyphics into stone. Scribe later wrote on papyrus.

Egypt’s Social Class Pharaoh Priest and nobles Traders, artisans, shopkeepers, and scribes Farmers and herders Unskilled workers Upper, Middle, and Lower class made up the Egyptian social class.
