Hertz’s experiments Heinrich Hertz experimented with Maxwell’s thesis in 1888.

Followers Augusto Righi, an Italian physicist, and another scientist, Temistocle Calzecchi- Onesti, continued and refined Hertz’s work.

Oliver Lodge In 1894, Oliver Lodge named Temistocle’s famous "tube" the "coherer" and increased the reception gain of the hertzian waves.

Italian inventor Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895.

Nikola Tesla Nikola Tesla is now credited with being the first person to patent radio technology; the Supreme Court overturned Marconi's patent in 1943 in favor of Tesla.
