Muon PRS meeting January 21 st, 2003 Norbert Neumeister CERN EP / HEPHY Vienna Muon Barrel Geometry Description
2
Muon PRS meeting, CERN, 21st January 2003 Norbert Neumeister HEPHY Vienna 2 Introduction We are going to move to XML and DDD –I had a look at the current geometry description –the return yoke is already built, so cross-check with reality! –barrel geometry is more complicated than endcap geometry New Geometry project: –Geometry/Muon/ –MuonGeometry, MuonSensDet, SimulationData, ReconstructionData Simulation – Reconstruction geometry –active geometry (chambers) –passive geometry (return yoke, iron, coil) needed for propagation –magnetic field geometry NEW –for simulation we use active and passive geometry –for reconstruction we use only active geometry (only for GEANE propagation the full geometry is used) Geometry description: –muon.tz mb.tz, me.tz, xml files, engineering drawings (AutoCAD) –describes: coil, return yoke, tail catcher, support structure, chambers –structure is not very complicated –XML files are readable (understandable)

Muon PRS meeting, CERN, 21st January 2003 Norbert Neumeister HEPHY Vienna 24 Summary XML files: malg.xml, mb.xml, me.xml –for the time being just a copy of the tz-files –chimneys are not included! –at least we should check if there are any major problems Responsibilities –barrel ??? –endcaps ??? –coil, infrastructure ??? –we need at least one contact person! Work to be done –check position of chambers –check materials and shapes –fix known problems: yoke geometry, (coil?) –create magnetic field geometry (Valery Andreev)
