What is it? It’s a people project a community transformation of libraries A unified community of trust and support Built around a critical and clearly understood purpose: Effective resource sharing. Collaboration remains at the very center of where we are today and where we are headed. “Your Library is My Library, My Library is Your Library.”

A mutually supportive resource sharing cooperative A mix of over 80 public and private libraries A group with a strong sense of community and a unified collection A consortium committed to providing for its members Who are we? A serious ILL enthusiasts group

Project Partnerships: Regional User Groups are made possible by the IDS Project’s strategic partners. A big thank you from all the members! Library Partnerships: Member libraries learn about workflows, offices, ideas, changes, and each other through 12 month partnerships. Each User Group provides the opportunity to share partnership experiences. All Region Meeting: As a preconference to the Annual IDS Project Conference, the Regional User Groups come together for workshops and discussions.

What is IDS Logic?

●IDS Logic can insert information into transactions. ●IDS Logic can route transactions. ●IDS Logic can cancel and update transactions in ILLiad and WCRS/Worldshare. ●IDS Logic can send emails to patrons or other libraries based on criteria you give it. ●IDS Logic can read information in transactions and take actions based on criteria. What does this mean for me?

More advanced and complex rules Often several rules that work in tandem Usually utilize external data sources Utilize external API and services to pull in information for updating TNs and streamlining workflow Logic Services

Looks at loan requests in lending Pulls in call number, location, and item ID Pulls in loan availability from local catalog Routes to new status based on availability Cancels OCLC request if unavailable or if the item belongs to a non-loanable collection Lending Loan Availability Service

It’s like magic! I love that it cut down on the amount of requests we had to sift through. I think the LAS is marvelous. It has really cut down the time and energy that goes into lending pending each day and has stream-lined our processes. The few small details to be worked out are nowhere near as time-consuming as looking up all the call numbers and availability manually. I think it’s been a great addition to our workflow.

Impact of IDS LAS at UO Libraries  Total transactions cancelled or routed by LAS since implementation: 5,075

Impact of IDS LAS at UO Libraries  Total transactions cancelled or routed by LAS since implementation: 5,075  5,075 transactions at an average savings of thirty seconds each = approximately 42.3 hours of staff time  42.3 hours of staff time = $830 based on average staff salary

Projected Annual Impact of IDS LAS at UO Libraries  Approximately 17,500 lending loan transactions per year  17,500 transactions at an average savings of thirty seconds each = approximately 145 hours of staff time  145 hours of staff time = $2,842 based on average staff salary
