Graphs are used to record data and information, today our goal is to be able to learn how to identify and understand why they are used. We organize the data into a chart or table called a graph.

 Picture graphs show their information by pictures, make sure to check the key to figure out how much each picture is worth. KEY PICTURE GRAPH

 Line Graphs can be used to show changes in numbers or amounts over time.  When we read a line graph we can see if something increased, decreased, or stayed the same over time.

 A Bar Graph uses horizontal or vertical bars to represent the counts of several categories.  The Bar Graph should be given a Title, a statement should be written that analyzes and interprets the data.

 Probability is the chance that an event will occur, or happen. The probability of an event occurring is represented by a ratio. This ratio is a number between 0 to 1. https://www.brainpop.com/math/prob ability/basicprobability/

 The Probability of an event occurring, like heads in a coin toss, is the ratio or comparison of desired outcomes to the total number of possible outcomes. So, tossing heads in a probability terms would be:  Probability (heads) = ½.

A spinner is used in many different ways such as playing games, telling probability. You can tell if a spinner is divided into equal or un equal pieces. In this case it is unlikely for the spinner to land on yellow.
