In the 1990s, Tunisia experienced rapid growth in tourism. However, this began to hit the stagnation stage in the 2000s, as the tourism sectors of other countries in North Africa began to grow faster that in Tunisia. As a result, Tunisia decided to diversify from traditional beach tourism to medical tourism. Tourism growth in Tunisia

Tunisia was already blessed with many natural resources like: Mineral water (in springs). Sand Sunshine Seawater Use of Natural Resources

The government of Tunisia used this to their advantage, using the health benefits of natural therapy. For example, thalassotherapy (bathing in warm sea water). They coupled these natural resources with artificial structures, building hospitals and health centres in cities designed specifically for medical tourism. In addition, the Tourism Ministry encourages tourism by taking care of all details, such as plane tickets and provision of five-star hotels. Tourism Strategies

The Ministry of Tourism in Tunisia reported that the number of health tourists increased from 42,000 in 2003 to 111,200 in 2008. Success
