2 Overview of Workshop Opening Microsoft Word Setting Margins, Font Size, Spacing, and Page #s Basic Paper Requirements Saving Your Document Printing Your Document Accessing Your Files From Home Additional Help Questions

3 Opening Microsoft Word To open: click the icon on the desktop Or select the program from the Start Menu

4 Formatting Your Document Basic Requirements 1 in Margins 12 Point Font Times New Roman Font Double Spaced Page Numbers

5 Setting Margins To set a 1 inch margin: click “Page Layout” at top of screen. Select “Normal” (Note: most computers are automatically set at 1 inch margins)

6 Selecting Font and Size To select your font, click “Home” Click “Calibri” and select “Times New Roman” from drop down list Make sure the number next to the font box reads “12”

7 Double Spacing Your Document Select the Line Spacing Icon under the “Home” tab Click “2.0” then click “Remove Space After Paragraph”

8 Adding Page Numbers Select “Insert” tab at top of screen Select “Page Number” then “Top of Page” then “Plain Number 3” from drop down menus. Be sure to type last name BEFORE the number on the header. Click “Close Header”

9 Basic Paper Requirements Name, Course, Professor’s Name, Assignment, Due Date Top left-hand corner of document Jane Doe EngL 101 Professor Dean Critical Analysis May 23, 2011

10 Saving Your Document Click the office icon in the upper left corner Select “Save” or “Save As” Name document From the menu to the left, select “Home (H:)”

11 Printing Your Document Click the office icon at top left hand of page Select “Print” Select number of copies Click “OK”

12 Accessing Your Files Off Campus On the ARCC homepage, click “Student Home” at top of page Scroll to the bottom and under “Student Resources”, click “Information Technology Services” Under the “More in this Area” tab on the left, click “Accessing Your Files” Click the link under “Accessing Your Files Off Campus” You can also just type https://files.anokaramsey.edu into your internet browserhttps://files.anokaramsey.edu Remember to select “Run” when the pop-up appears (you may need to select “install add-on” from the bar under your browser) Type in your information to access your H drive
