Vinyl Windows Though the original wood sash windows are often among the most striking details, they tend to be one of the first to be removed. The vinyl windows on this house at least blend in.

Painted Stone The hallmark of Craftsman architecture is the use of real materials, honestly crafted. Wood and stone are displayed for their natural beauty. Alternately stone can be painted to resemble marshmallow topping.

Paint Schemes Some historically appropriate colors can seem strange to contemporary eyes. Luckily, some totally inappropriate schemes look odd too.

Additions Though there are many buildings in the neighborhood which have incongruent additions, the strangest is Silver Peak Restaurant & Brewery. If you look right in the middle (where the chimney is) you can still see a sliver of one of the oldest houses in the area.
