Special Olympics Healthy Habits Mission: To improve each athlete’s ability to train and compete in Special Olympics by providing them with resources to advance their health, fitness and overall quality of life. Athlete Education: By teaching preventative care practices and providing educational resources, Healthy Habits reinforces the importance of developing a healthy lifestyle and integrating healthy choices into daily routine.

Special Olympics Healthy Habits Special Olympics Wisconsin promotes Healthy Habits through Education Stations at local tournaments. Examples of Education Stations: Cold Weather Safety Emergency Preparedness Free blood pressure screenings Heart Health Hydration Nutrition Oral Health Sun Safety 3

Special Olympics Healthy Habits SUCCESSES Healthy Habits Partner Additional funding from HC grant assists with 14 events across the state (yearly). Volunteer opportunities for local groups and/or organizations Easy opportunity to educate athletes on preventative care CEO supports the importance of Healthy Habits HA Clinicial Directors participate and serve as an on-site resource CHALLENGES Additional work placed upon Regional Staff Space and Location can be challenging depending on competition venue Getting professional volunteers to provide their expertise and time 6
