Welcome Ilaria Gidoro (Education and Representation Coordinator, academicreps@), Vicki Cormie & Hilda McNae (Senior Academic Liaison Librarians, library@) 5.15-6.15pm Objectives: Understand the role of Library Reps and how to be an effective Library Rep. Explain how to work with Academic Liaison Librarians and Library Link in your School. Establish an action plan for improving learning resources in your School.

What does a Library Rep do? Ilaria

Overview You are a Class Rep with a democratic mandate first and foremost. Consult your mates and represent! You represent ALL students. Confidentiality.

Role Description Work closely with the Library on improving the library facilities, online reading lists, access to learning resources (both paper and online). Raise awareness about services on offer (inter-library loans, morebooks@ etc.) First steps: Make yourself known in your School. Save contact details of key Library and SA staff. Feedback.

Student Library Users Group (SLUG) 3 times a year: Oct 22 nd, Feb 16 th, Apr 12 th ; 4-5pm Library Reps + Library staff + DoRep Collect feedback in advance. Send apologies if unable to attend. Add points to the agenda/read agenda. Report to students. Reading lists. Promote the Library.

What you can help with Advise and provide feedback on library services e.g. circulation policies (fines and loan periods) Promote the resources specific to your subject area Promote library skills sessions or help us organise sessions for students in your School Help us improve NSS survey results – what does question 16 really mean?
