Description For my science fair project, I decided to test four different fruits to see which generated the most electricity.
4
Hypothesis If I measure the electricity from a pineapple, then it will produce more electricity than a kumquat, orange, or grapefruit. I think this because I believe that since the pineapple is the biggest fruit of all, it will have more electricity than the other fruits.
5
Materials Here are all the materials that I used while doing this experiment… 1. A Multi Meter 2. A Kumquat 3. An Orange 4. A Grapefruit 5. A Pineapple

Variables A. My control in this experiment was the. A. My control in this experiment was the pineapple. B. My dependent variable in this experiment was the. B. My dependent variable in this experiment was the electricity. C. My independent variable in this experiment was the. C. My independent variable in this experiment was the type of fruit. D. My constants in this experiment were the, the, the, and the. D. My constants in this experiment were the person doing it, the multi meter, the location, and the probes.

Procedures The steps in my experiment were… 1. Gather the materials 2. Set out the fruit 3. Put the black and red probes in the fruit 4. Repeat step 3 three times for each fruit 5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 for all the fruits 6. Record data

Observations Throughout the experiment, I made 4 observations… 1. The further away the red and black cords on the multi meter were, the higher amount of electricity it measured. 2. If I put the cords in the wrong side, the amount of electricity on the multi meter would measure as a negative value. 3. The bigger the fruit, the more electricity it produces. 4. When I put in the cords, some of the fruits numbers fluctuated a little bit while others settled on their number immediately.
11
Why This Experiment is Useful I think that this experiment is useful because if you lose electricity, then you will know that you can use fruit for electricity and you will know which fruit will produce the most of it.
12
How it All Works… So, you’re probably wondering how a multi meter measures the amount of electricity from a fruit. Well, here’s how… 1. When you put two dissimilar metal objects in a solution like citrus juice, then the electrons will flow from one metal to the other. Then electricity can be produced. 2. Therefore, the multi meter can measure the flow of electrons. Really, the fruit isn’t generating electricity, its allowing a reaction to happen that allows electricity to flow.
13
Conclusion In the end, the data showed that the pineapple produced MORE electricity than the kumquat, orange, or grapefruit.
